I'm Gill, and I am an artist based in rural Cheshire specialising in creating personalised artwork of your beloved pets. Meg is my cocker spaniel who I can thank for reigniting my love of art after many years. I loved art at school but could never imagine how I could make a career of it, which the careers advisors thought sensible and therefore I pursued various careers including that of a high school Geography teacher.
I re-found my love of art after moving to Tattenhall, Cheshire and finding a thriving local art community of like-minded art enthusiasts. In particular after adopting our cocker spaniel puppy and realising the joy in creating pet portraits for friends and family. Having completed a diploma in pet portraiture last year I have been taking commissions of people’s pets for a while now, primarily of dogs in all shapes and sizes, but also of other pets and animals.
My work has been shipped not only in the UK but also worldwide.

Materials
I work in a range of media, but most portraits are in Pastels. I feel the vibrancy of the colours and the softness of this medium really lends itself to animal portraiture. I like using different coloured paper and/or adding backgrounds to my portraits to compliment the piece. I also enjoy working in pencil and oils.
